Complete Reusability: A Showcase of Sustainability and Innovation
The circular booth, developed by Sweco, is a model of sustainability and innovation. It is designed using reusable and recyclable materials, significantly reducing its environmental footprint. The booth is fully modular, requiring no glue, and utilizes natural, unfinished materials. Christiaan Bos, Consultant for Logistics & Production at DENC, a part of Sweco, stated: “I am thrilled with this circular booth, which aligns perfectly with Sweco’s sustainability ambitions. After many trade shows, too much ends up in the trash. Our design team has succeeded in making the booth 100 percent circular, and I’m incredibly proud! We first used it at another trade show in June, and the benefit of this reusable booth is that we have a sleek design with a higher investment in quality furniture like the bar and cabinet walls. Now we can focus all our attention on the content of our trade show program. We hope this initiative inspires other exhibitors to make sustainable choices.”
Sustainable Participation Packages with Circular Materials
Since last autumn, Jaarbeurs has offered exhibitors the opportunity to build their booths using sustainable and circular materials. Corien den Ouden added: “Booth builders and exhibitors are increasingly concerned with the ‘footprint’ of their participation, especially in the logistics sector. We see a growing demand for booths made from reusable materials. This fits seamlessly with our ambition to become the most sustainable organizer and facilitator of trade shows and events in Europe. That’s why we offer exhibitors sustainable options when designing their booths.” Jaarbeurs is also subject to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which emphasizes the growing need for transparency regarding companies’ sustainability efforts. From 2025, this European legislation will require companies to report on environmental impact, social responsibility, and sustainable policies. “Complying with CSRD standards not only fulfills a legal obligation, but it’s also a strategic move for companies to further promote their sustainability policies and reduce their CO2 emissions,” said Corien den Ouden.
Focus on Sustainable Logistics in the Trade Show Program
Sustainability in the logistics sector is a key theme at Logistica Next and ICT&Logistiek. Volvo Truck Netherlands will address the role of logistics service providers in the energy transition, BLMC will present a platform that helps companies meet their sustainability requirements, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management will introduce the topic of sustainability in heavy freight transport. Corien den Ouden added: “It promises to be an inspiring event, addressing the challenges of today and the future.”
