Utrecht, 6 September 2024 – The expert jury of the Logistica Award 2024 earlier today announced the three finalists competing for the prestigious Logistica Award. This award is presented biannually to companies that excel in innovation within the logistics sector. The three nominated companies are Essensium, Prime Vision and STILL Intern Transport. The winner will be announced on 5 November 2024 during the Logistica Next trade fair in Royal Jaarbeurs.

About the finalists

Essensium – SafeTrack
Essensium has developed the unique SafeTrack system, a brand-independent safety system for warehouse trucks. The system uses a Real Time Location System (RTLS), Vision and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to monitor the exact position of trucks, loads and pedestrians. SafeTrack intervenes automatically: the truck slows down when unsafe situations threaten to occur, without infrastructure modifications or use of tags, significantly improving both safety and productivity in warehouses or production environments, for example.

René de Koster, professor of Logistics and Operations Management at Erasmus University and chairman of the expert jury, says: ‘Essensium offers a unique solution that uses artificial intelligence to increase the safety of all warehouse trucks.’

Prime Vision – AMR solution for ASRS
Prime Vision has developed an advanced solution integrating Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) with automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS). These robots are flexible, can detect obstacles and people, and are capable of transporting, sequencing and sorting parcels to carton erectors, carton sealers, picking stations and sorting lanes. As the robots’ work area is not fenced, this results in high efficiency and flexible goods handling. This allows warehouses to better respond to fluctuations in demand and changes in the operational environment.

The chairman of the jury commented, ‘Prime Vision has developed a universal autonomous robot for all infeed, outfeed and sortation, fully integrated with other automated systems.’

STILL Intern Transport introduces the Self Driving Vehicle (SDV)
STILL Intern Transport presents the Self Driving Vehicle (SDV), an innovative autonomous solution for internal warehouse transports. The SDV uses advanced camera technology and machine learning to automate processes such as horizontal transport and cross-docking. In addition, it can detect other vehicles and dynamically adjust speed for safe and efficient operation.

Equipped with LTO batteries that recharge at lightning speed, the SDV offers maximum flexibility without the need for fixed infrastructure. The vehicle is being further developed for full end-to-end warehouse automation.

According to the jury president: ‘STILL has introduced an extraordinary autonomous warehouse truck that avoids obstacles, automatically adjusts its speed to the environment, and whose batteries can be charged super fast.’

Announcement of the winner
The winner of the Logistica Award 2024 will be announced on 5 November 2024 during the first day of Logistica Next, the leading event for the logistics sector. The award ceremony will take place from 10.00 to 10.30 on the main stage in Jaarbeurs. We invite everyone to attend this festive occasion.
